Carefolk is an eHealth company established in 2016 that wanted to provide services to all sectors involved in the care industry. One of the key requirements would be to ensure that all workflows could be automated so managers and caregivers had an up-to-date overview of all aspects of their daily schedules. It was crucial that instant communication between all parties would be possible so as to create great relationships between caregivers, clients and their families. The custom software solution needed to be ‘beautiful and easy to use’. Carefolk approached Applicita as a technical partner to collaborate and work with their internal design and development team in the development and implementation of the solution.
Applicita with Carefolk developed an innovative multi-tenant platform with Software-As-A-Service architecture with web, Android and iOS client interfaces ensuring that it can be used anytime anywhere as would be expected in the fast-paced modern world. The product was specifically developed by Applicita and Carefolk to capture every element of client case management, scheduling and caregiver management. It is particularly intuitive with messaging services embedded that will provide real time up-to-date information on the status of each client. For example a message will be sent to the caregiver when medication requires administering and it will update careplans accordingly.
For managers the application allows them to track and follow each appointment and will even send a message if the caregiver is late for an assignment. It also has the ability to determine who the best caregiver would be for any given appointment. The scheduling element is very easy to use with a drag and drop facility and provides managers an overview of the daily roster. Managers can also use the system as an HR portal as it records staff training, sending a reminder when training requires renewing, and allows managers to record and update areas of staff expertise. Caregivers themselves have their own portal which enables them to view their schedules and timecards. They can also make use of the instant messaging service to keep in contact with managers and colleagues which facilitates the flow of the service they are providing to their clients. By using the app on their mobile devices caregivers record the time they start and finish an appointment.
Throughout the product build Applicita worked with Carefolk to build a truly custom Integrated Care Platform, one that needed to work for family caregivers and their loved ones too – Therefore the Carefolk Family web portal was also developed. It contains the components that makes the Pro Version so successful but also includes a care update feed where family members can store and share special moments of their loved ones.There is also a separate hub for the Care community where caregivers can interact, share ideas and work together to improve practice and keep up-to-date with the latest industry developments.
